In July the sun in Orange County sets over Palos Verdes. For three months of the summer it never touches the horizon but rather kisses the mountain tops to the north west. At its lowest point, before it disappears, the lifeguard shacks cast long shadows across the beach. This is the best time for swimming and one of the best times for surfing, but it’s hard not to just stop and stare.
