This is probably a Willet, though it could be a Sandling. Whatever it is, it moved fast. Shore birds tend to play in the surf. Their rhythm presents a challenge for would-be photographers. They run into the shallow, and run out with the crashing waves. To get a good photo, find a place where the beach curves naturally. Set up at the tangent to the shore, a little ways up the beach. You’re sure to see something incredible as the birds dance in the foam.
