Whenever you’re unsure what to shoot, or how to make a photo visually interesting, find something to put in your way. Sometimes obstructions are provided for you. Other times you need to find them. Some of the most interesting photos I’ve ever shot are ones where the subject’s depth is indeterminable. How far away is that flower? Sure, you know the focal length so you can make a good guess, but the better question is: are those buds in front or behind? Good pictures, obfuscate reality.
