When you think of Washington DC, you tend to think of the reflecting pool looking at the Washington Monument or the Lincoln Memorial. You think of famous shots from Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014), or Mr. Smith Goes to Washington (1939). While the reflecting pool had an alge problem of its own when I visited Washington in 2015, I found that there’s a number of literal swamps hiding behind that classic, well groomed row of trees.
